Wall Layout, Design, and Editing

  • Wall structure: Create straight walls New Project and Choose New Template. Type Properties (Edit Type). Top Constrain (select level connected to). Chain and Location Line options. Arrows (or space bar) in walls flip the direction of the wall.

  • Wall layouts: Create straight and curved walls Possibility to Lock Alignment. Create Similar to ensure a new wall that is about to be drawn is the sae family and type as an existing pre-drawn wall.

  • Wall views: Work with bidirectional associativity and multiple views Tile Views (view, windows). Top Constrain (properties panel). For zoom all tiled views simultaneously 'ZA' shortcut.

  • Create split walls Split with Gap (modify tab). For re-join the wall 'Allow Join' in both segments and 'Drag Wall End'. Split Element 'Delete inner segment'. To reposition the split line you can hover it, press Tab key and then click on it.

  • Fillet walls Select Wall and Create Similar, then you can access to modify options and access to Fillet. It's not a modify tool.

  • Align and Trim/Extend walls Align (modify tab) and select the wall to align. 'Multiple Alignment' option. Trim/Extend

  • Create wall types Edit Type a Basic Wall or select existing in Revit. Duplicate a Type and modify it in The 'Structure' parameter. Modify material and thickness. Function are relate with the priority of the assembly layer (if 2 material share function and are near, it will blend).

Door and Window Layout and Design

  • Place doors Tag on Placement. A door family described as hosted.

  • Place windows Filter only windows category Copy to Clipboard and and Align to selected levels in 'Paste' icon. Array for place windows at a given distance. The properties panel shows the properties of a windows instance.

  • Center a door in a wall Aligned dimension (annotate) 'Wall faces' option. EQ symbol distribute the windows equally along the wall (a constrain for allow recalculate if the wall is moved).

  • Copy doors and windows Select window, right click and Create Similar. Pick New Host delete the actual instance and pasted in another location (wall)y.

Roof Layout, Design, and Editing

  • Create an extruded roof. Roof types: Hip, Gable, Mansard. Create a sketch of the roof profile on the reference plane. Convert a sketch profile to a roof element: Construct a Reference Plane (Architecture). Create section and Roof by Extrusion (roof). Construct grid with Reference Planes. Draw Line. Apply the Join/Unjoin roof tool to project a roof to the wall boundaries: (modify tab selection roof) Join/Unjoin. Attach walls to the underside of a roof element: Select walls Attach Top/Base (Modify wall).

  • Create a gable roof. Create a roof sketch using the roof by footprint method: Roof by Footprint Apply slope properties to a roof sketch: 'Define Slope' option Set slope values: Convert a roof sketch to a roof element: 'Pick Walls' ensures a parametric relationship between the roof and the walls.

  • Create a roof with vertical penetration. Create a roof sketch using the roof by footprint method: Roof By Footprint, 'Pick Walls'. Use a parametric relationship between a roof sketch and walls: Overhang option. Select lines and check Define Slopes. Create a void in a roof for chimney walls: Edit Footprint Convert a roof sketch to a roof element: Vertical Opening, select rectangle, modify (if want).

  • Create a hip roof. Roof sketch using roof by footprint method: Click 3 walls with Defines slope option and close it unselecting Defines slope and drawing a line. Apply slope properties: Convert a roof sketch to roof element: Apply the Join/Unjoin roof tool to project the roof to wall boundaries: Join/Unjoin roof enables the joining of a roof edge to the face of a wall.

  • Create a shed roof. Create a roof sketch using the roof by footprint method: Apply slope properties to a roof sketch: Define slope checkbox to add a slope angle to a line(s) which make up a roof closed loop boundary. Convert a roof sketch to a roof element:

  • Create and assign roof types. Add an existing and new roof type to existing roof elements: Duplicate and modify structure parameters. Create a new roof style type: Assign materials. Edit material layer properties:

Stairs and Railings Layout and Design

  • Create straight run stairs. Create a staircase component with a straight run: Stair (components, straight). Align to the edge of the floor and move. Modify the stairs to add a landing: Move the arrow and create another stair in the same rectangle. Applying an alignment constraint to staircase: The part of the stair that does one step on in the 'Tread'.

  • Modify stair elements. Create new stair type: Create reference plan. Landing Convert to Sketch and modify it with draw tools. Edit stair element properties: 'Automatic landing' Create an opening in a floor: Opening Vertical in the floor. Change railings on stairs:

  • Add railings. Add a railing to a staircase: railing place on stair/ramp. Modify the railing properties: Edit rail (edit type). Duplicate and change rail structure. Modify an existing railing sketch using draw tools: From level 1 to level 2 and extend the railing to the wall. Sketch a new railing element: Use the pick new host and select the stair.
